  • Concern for obstructive uropathy as cause of AKI

  • Assessment of bladder volume to evaluate for urinary retention

  • Assessment of Ascites Volume

Clinical Questions

  • Is there hydronephrosis? Is it Bilateral or unilateral?

  • Is the bladder distended?

  • Is there ascites? How much?

  • Is there free fluid in the peritoneum: hepatorenal recess, splenorenal recess, subdiaphragmatic, rectovesicular/rectouterine space

Limited Abdominal Ultrasound performed by "provider"

 

Indication: Ascites, Assessment of Bladder Volume for Urinary Retention, Evaluate for Obstructive Uropathy, evaluate for intra-abdominal free fluid

 

Interpretation/Documentation:

  • No e/o hydronephrosis,

  • +intrabdominal free fluid in RLQ/LLQ and hepatorenal space

  •  no e/o urinary retention
